鬼太は自分のデベソを気にしており、代わりのヘソを探しているため「雷様にヘソを取られる」と言われるようになったといいます。
「おいらは鬼太だ。おいらが太鼓を叩けばすぐに稲妻が走って雷が落ちるんだ。牙も鋭いから怒らせると大変だぞ。おいらはべつにヘソなんて気にしてなんかいねえ、ただちょっとみんなのヘソが気になるから見ているだけだ。（しめしめ...）」
